Li-Ing Wu Beautiful Shining Jade is a naïve artist. Her innate artistic potentials were awakened shortly after her father’s sudden death in her early adulthood. During Li-Ing’s deep grieving, on her way back from visiting the local market, her sister Beautiful Shine of Jade and Li-Ing both felt compelled to paint the same bunch of yellow roses in a florist shop they both felt so drawn to simultaneously. The event marked the beginning of a series of different paintings and sketches over time.

After the above initiation, Li-Ing had a vivid dream in May, 1997. In that, she saw herself as a rather tall blond-haired Italian male artist in his early 40’s living at a small beach-front village in the mid-18th century. Li-Ing was shown hundreds of paintings of identical size of approximately 100cm x 100cm. They were consistently portrayed in harmonious pastel colours with child- like free flowing images of simple life of villagers, mountains, rivers, trees, flowers, insects, clouds and little animals in mystic, natural and fairy-story-like themes. Li-Ing was told by the villagers surround her in the dream that she (as the blond-haired male artist) was the artist of these paintings!
Li-Ing intuits that her awakened artistic talents in this existence are the continuation of her gifts from that past life. Whether that past life was a real existence or a pure imagination or not, she wishes to share the love, beauty, joy, peace, harmony and divinity she perceives and experiences in life via the digital prints of her paintings and sketches. This sharing was the wish the male artist in Italy in another existence did not get to fulfil!
