–Paramahansa Yoganada
We live in a world of speed. Since the rise of computerization, automation, and high information technology just a few decades ago, the pace of modern life has accelerated dramatically. The sheer diversity and abundance of choices in every area of life have surpassed anything seen in previous eras of human evolution. In the face of such overwhelming complexity, speed, and constant change, it’s easy for life to become confusing and for us to lose our sense of balance.
Mesmerized by the richness of the physical and material world around us, we’ve been conditioned to believe that life is about pursuing comfort, pleasure, and accumulation. We search externally for happiness, love, support and validation as the proof of our identity and self-worth. But this external pursuit becomes a never-ending journey much like a rat race. The more we have, the more we feel we need, because we’re told, “the bigger, the better.” Yet no matter how much we achieve, externally defined formulas ultimately disempower us. We end up placing our worth and authority in the hands of others, leaving us with no true say.
The irony is that despite owning more and acquiring it at faster speeds than ever before, we are as a whole, more miserable. Statistics show that since the 1950s, reported happiness has dropped from two-thirds of the population to just one-third today. Other studies reveal that the happiest nations are often underdeveloped countries not because of material wealth, but because of their strong human bonds, a sense of belonging, and community-centered values like caring and sharing.
Somewhere along the way, we’ve neglected the very being and essence of who we truly are. Given these patterns, perhaps it’s time to slow down, reflect deeply, and ask: what part of the human formula has gone so wrong? How might we reconstruct our lives around the simple, inner riches already within us?
As one Native American visionary once said: “Everything we cherish most in the modern world; our houses, cars and credit cards, are dead. None of them contains the living essence of the Great Spirit.” When we treasure what is lifeless and man-made, it’s no wonder our lives feel upside down and back to front.
In the face of today’s chaos, division, and deep inequality, this website is dedicated to promoting Self-knowledge, self-empowerment, and personal spiritual growth. Its purpose is to help restore the unity, love, peace, beauty, bounty, and harmony that already exist within us, qualities our global village so desperately needs at this time.

Self-understanding enables us to recognise within us our innate precious essences without justification or proofs or external approvals. It helps us to recognise the same jewels in others at the same time since it takes one to know one. With Self- cultivation, Self-transformation and Self-development, it’s only natural to extend such to all other aspects of our life including our relationship with one another; with our immediate natural, social environments and global communities on all level. After all, many of us have chosen to come here to be a progressing example to others as Way Showers and Light Workers.
The Indian yogi and metaphysical teacher Yogananda once said, “People talk about doing big things, leaving a legacy, and making a difference in the world; yet every extraordinary change comes from within you.” The good news is, we don’t need to be perfect examples of what we teach or share, we only need to be sincere learners. Often, we teach what we most need to learn, and we learn best through the process of trial and error of what we teach.
As we each walk our own path of transformation, let us remember that we are often channels of blessing for one another without even realizing it. May the messages within Sacred Jewel Within serve as a mirror, a spark, or a gentle nudge for your own journey. Thank you for being here.
